Here's what's going on:
Premier Smith is suspending the charter-protected rights of trans youth. She already suspended the charter-protected rights of teachers. Whose rights will she take away next? Alberta's government is directly targeting trans kids, undermining fundamental rights and freedoms, and interfering in family medical decisions. This is government overreach. This is a whole government legislating discrimination against a vulnerable group of young people.
Here is our plan:
To stop Premier Smith, we need to reach and empower Albertans from all walks of life who believe in freedom and human rights, and who oppose government overreach. We need to reach them where they’re at. Not on Instagram, but on the morning radio as they drive to work. In their mailboxes. And on the doorstep. Our goals are simple: empower everyday Albertans to understand what's at stake, and to make their concerns clear to their government and elected officials.
1) Support, resource and scale grassroots activism, in partnership with activists on the ground. By fueling and scaling the grassroots response, we can mobilize thousands of Albertans - parents and young people, teachers, and everyday Albertans who believe in freedom and human rights.
2) Amplify the voices and stories of trans youth, their parents and families through radio ads, social media, mainstream media engagement and flyers we're shipping to homes across the province.
We've raised almost $35,000 so far. We are asking you to help us reach $100,000, so we can meet the moment and show up for trans youth in their time of need.
