Tell Premier Eby: Reinstate Funding for SOGI123
British Columbians believe in inclusive schools —schools where kids of all kinds are safe, welcomed, and empowered to grow into happy and healthy adults.
Like you, we believe that all students — no matter their background, religion, family income, gender or sexuality — deserve the freedom to be themselves at school.
That's why we were shocked to learn that Premier Eby and the Government of British Columbia had cut funding for SOGI123, a vital program proven to create more inclusive, safe and healthy schools for ALL students.
Why is the Government of BC gutting funding for an evidence-based program that is proven to reduce bullying and improve mental health?
And, if they're turning their backs on queer and trans kids, which kids and which families will they abandon next?
What's going on:
- After years of support and proven impact, the Government of BC has ended funding for SOGI123 after the 2025-2026 school year.

Prior to defunding the program, the Government of BC reduced funding by a staggering 42%, from $350k in 2024-2025 to $200k in 2025-2026
These cuts hurt kids, families and teachers. They will lead to:
- Less support for teachers and school staff in British Columbia schools.
- Fewer resources and tools to help teachers and school staff create inclusive classrooms

Worsened mental health, decreased well-being, and increased bullying for all students — but especially those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+.
This isn't a partisan issue (or at least, it shouldn't be): SOGI 123 has had cross-party provincial government support and funding since its creation in 2016. So, why is a supposedly progressive government turning its back on 2SLGBTQIA+ students?
Here's the silver lining: We believe we can pressure Premier Eby and the Government of BC to reverse this illogical decision and restore funding, but we need your help to make it happen.
