Join the Youth Advisory Council

Momentum and our friends at Wisdom2Action are working with organizations in Ghana and Malawi to deliver a two year project that aims to support 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in Canada, Ghana and Malawi to address gender-based violence (GBV) through artistic expression and activism.

We are looking to start with recruitment for our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). The role of the YAC is to ensure that the perspectives of young people are included throughout the project and in the project outputs. The YAC will allow us to meaningfully engage youth who have lived experiences with 2SLGBTQIA+ arts-based activism as consultants in this work.

We are looking for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth across the Greater Toronto Area between the ages of 18-24 who have at some point in time been involved with 2SLGBTQIA+ arts-based activism. Special consideration will be made for youth who have diverse backgrounds, identities and/or lived experiences. The YAC’s engagement will be virtual.

It is important that we clarify that this project is consultative and not a research project.

The YAC’s role will involve:

● Monthly virtual meetings (1-2 hours)
● Designing and implementing a Canadian youth summit
● Attending a Malawi youth summit
● Receiving an honorarium
● Coverage of all project-related expenses, including travel to Malawi

This work is being undertaken alongside the launch of a new strategic plan. As Momentum enters its third year, the organization is experiencing rapid growth and increased national visibility. This rebrand is intended to define its next phase of development and position Momentum clearly as Canada’s leading 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy organization.

The selected partner will be expected to deliver a cohesive and adaptable brand system that reflects the organization’s role in shaping public discourse and mobilizing communities. Proponents have an option to include the development of a new Wordpress-based website. See Appendix A for further details.
