Finance Officer – Contract Position

The Society of Queer Momentum is a national 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy non-profit mandated to
accelerate social and gender justice for 2SLGBTQIA+ people. We are hiring a Finance Officer
who will work with the Momentum team to manage the administrative, financial, and contractual
aspects of our work. In particular, the Finance Officer will lead financial tracking and reporting of
our Accelerating 2SLGBTQIA+ Advocacy Project funded by Women and Gender Equality
Canada.


Finance Officer details:
 1-year contract with possibility of extension. 3-month probation period.
 7.5 hours a week at $30.00/hr
 Reports to Momentum’s Executive Director
 Fully remote position


Responsibilities:
 Coordinate financial administration, including payment of invoices, tracking of expenses,
processing payroll, and reporting to funders as required.
 Liaise with Momentum staff and partners to ensure effective financial tracking and
reporting.
 Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting and contractual obligations and
requirements.
 Monitor and support bookkeeping, accounting and auditing efforts as required.
Qualifications:
 Demonstrated excellence in financial management and tracking in non-profit
organizations.
 Experience managing finances for government-funded programs and projects.
 Training and professional experience in administration and bookkeeping.
 Demonstrated competence working in diverse environments with a wide range of
stakeholders within a commitment to anti-oppression, social justice and equity issues.
 Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Techniques and Procedures (GAAP)
 Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements (e.g. CRA)

The Society of Queer Momentum is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist to help lead the organization’s communications, campaigns, and public profile. This is a one-year contract, with anticipated start date in early June 2026

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) with a $70,000 salary and two weeks (10 days) vacation.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Specialist will play a central role in shaping how Momentum communicates with supporters, partners, media, and the broader public. This role is responsible for delivering strong, strategic, and high-quality communications that advance advocacy goals, support organizing and campaign work, strengthen Momentum’s brand, and help grow the organization’s reach and impact across Canada.

This position is suited to someone who is politically aware, strategically minded, highly organized, and deeply committed to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and issues. The successful candidate will bring strong judgment, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-moving environment.
